Wildflowers have bloomed in abundance in WA’s Midwest region despite an extended dry season at the start of the year.

An array of colourful flora has transformed Western Australia’s countryside despite fears this year’s wildflower season would be a bust after the Midwest region experienced drawn-out hot weather and delayed rainfall.

Each year, tourists flock to towns such as Mullewa and Geraldton, about 400 kilometres north of Perth, to catch a glimpse of rainbow-painted fields during the springtime, with the Coalseam Conservation Park being a highlight of any wildflower watcher’s itinerary.
